The availability of efficient research infrastructure and specialized laboratory equipment is of crucial importance for academic research and the development of industrial applications. As technical processes become more and more complex, only a few research facilities and companies are able to depict extensive testing possibilities and technical competences with their own resources. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and highly specialized research institutes in particular depend on cooperation with additional partners. The development of these cooperations is usually very complicated, since on the one hand there is no knowledge about the existing research infrastructure. On the other hand, there are bureaucratic and legal challenges (eg international contract design) in connection with special transactions and cooperation, especially in the international environment.
MetLight is a European network of universities, research institutes and companies, which integrates the research infrastructure in the field of metallic materials holistically. The entire process chain from material production, processing, characterization, application, to material recycling and assessment is presented. MetLight assumes responsibility for coordination and information and material exchange with the customer. Only competent and reliable partners are selected to handle your research tasks so you do not have to spend time searching. You have only one main contact and contract partner. Only in the case of very complex research tasks, where an increased communication is needed, contact with international partners will be established.
